Occupancy at easyHotel’s three London properties increased to 95% in July/August 2008 from 73% in the corresponding months of last year.
The improved occupancy helped the three hotels – in Victoria, South Kensington and Earl’s Court – to lift revenue per available room by 33% year-on-year to £37.07 from £27.93.
Lawrence Alexander, easyHotel chief executive, commented: ‘We have seen a strong performance in the capital over July and August, which traditionally is a challenging period.
‘Our hotels have benefited from an aggressive marketing programme in the key booking period and improved brand awareness as we open in new locations.
‘There is also increasing evidence that consumers are turning towards budget accommodation during the current tough economic climate. Against this background, we are looking forward to the opening of the easyHotel Paddington during September.’
The 47-room Paddington property opens on 19 September with a special introductory rate of £25 per room per night. ‘In keeping with the easyHotel value for money concept’, TV, wireless internet access and extra towels will be available for an additional charge to guests who require them.
